First made in 1982, the Awatea continues to represent the best of the classic Hawke's Bay cabernet/merlot blend. Floral aromas with intense blackberry, currant and dark plum flavours lead to a rich, supple palate with a sustained finish. Awatea will continue to evolve in bottle for ten years from harvest. The Bullnose is a dark ruby colour with aromas and flavours of violets, black cherry liqueur and spice, intermingled with notes of prune and raspberry. The rich, full flavoured palate displays velvety, even tannins.

Since 1984, Cape Crest has developed an International following for its unique expression of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
